How much leave you are really due.
Part-time, joining or leaving mid-year, parental leave, severe disability. The calculator works in twelfths under the Federal Leave Act, shows the day-exact comparison figure beside it and says which figure applies and why.
The calculator gives general information and is not legal advice. Collective agreements and works agreements may differ. Law as of 14 October 2026, checked against the Federal Leave Act, last amended by Art. 3 para. 3 of the Act of 20 April 2013 (BGBl. 2013 I p. 868), the Youth Employment Protection Act, last amended by Art. 53 of the Act of 23 October 2024 (BGBl. 2024 I No. 323), the Ninth Book of the Social Code, last amended by Art. 2b of the Act of 24 July 2026 (BGBl. 2026 I No. 228), the Federal Parental Allowance and Parental Leave Act, last amended by Art. 19 para. 2 of the Act of 22 December 2025 (BGBl. 2025 I No. 370), and the Maternity Protection Act, last amended by Art. 13 of the Act of 22 December 2025 (BGBl. 2025 I No. 371).
The rules are set by the Federal Leave Act and other provisions. The calculator applies them.
When someone joins or leaves during the year, the Federal Leave Act often works in twelfths rather than to the day. That means one twelfth for each full month of employment, with part months dropped. Anyone who joins by 30 June and stays keeps the full statutory leave. The same applies to someone who leaves in the second half of the year after the waiting period (§§ 4 and 5 BUrlG). Day-exact calculation is only allowed if the contract expressly says so and nobody falls below the statutory minimum leave as a result (§ 13 para. 1 BUrlG).

Common questions
Write to us at this address. We answer it ourselves, usually within one working day.
24 Mon-Sat days a year on a 6-day week. With fewer working days, pro rata: 24 × working days per week ÷ 6.
Fewer hours per day do not reduce your leave, only fewer working days per week do. If the work pattern changes during the year, each work phase counts by its own working days.
Leave lapses at the end of the year. Until 31 March of the following year it is kept only for urgent operational or personal reasons. It can only lapse, though, if the employer pointed out the remaining leave and the looming lapse in good time (BAG, 19 Feb 2019, 9 AZR 423/16).

What Zentrana does with it automatically
- 01 The leave account shows each person the annual entitlement, the remaining leave from last year and how much of it is still open.
- 02 The system counts days taken according to the person's work schedule and public holidays, half days included.
- 03 If remaining leave is to expire on 31 March, give the person the notice, in the system or on paper. The system records when it was given.
In Zentrana, nothing needs recalculating.
What you type in here one by one runs there automatically for every person: hours, deadlines, leave and holidays. Zentrana reports deadlines before they run out.
